Šezdesete… Filmska umetnost je eksplodirala svuda. Poljska, Čehoslovačka, SFRJ, Koreja…Više nijedna teritorijalno veća država nije bila za potcenjivanje. Filmski radnici su crpeli inspiraciju gde god su stigli, a najčešće iz gledanja filmova, čitanja knjiga, odlazaka na likovne izložbe i slušanja psihodelične muzike. Droga, sekte, hipi kumune, rasna i seksualna netolerancija, ratovi za dvorišta, tarabe i tuđa ognjišta…sve to je našlo svoj put do bioskopa, jer, to je bila panorama života veselih šezdesetih. Holivud je bio u dubokoj krizi. Finansijski neuspesi velikih produkcija, početkom ovog perioda, doveli su do sloma studija. Međutim, rat na tuđoj teritoriji, koliko god da je finansijski iznurivao američko društvo, doprineo je jačanju talasa promena u samoj filmskoj industriji Amerike. Iako su autori snimali filmove i o rasnoj netrpeljivosti, homoseksualizmu i upotrebi narkotika, u suštini se sve svodilo na novi način tretiranja starih tema. Američka nezavisna produkcija je jačala i Holivud, pre svega njoj, ima da zahvali na tome što je uskrsnuo već u sedamdesetima. Naravno, najbolji autori su tokom sedamdesetih izmestili svoje teme i stilska sredstva u uslove stvaranja A produkcije.
Ovo je period bujanja francuskog novog talasa, italijanskog horora i vesterna. Ove dve produkcije su najviše uticale na budući razvoj filmske umetnosti, iako je neophodno spomenuti i konstantan kvalitet britanskog i japanskog filma. Najdominantnija autorska figura bio je Godar. Što se tiče srpskog filma…realno, nikad bolji. Ipak, to ga još uvek nije činilo bitnim u svetskim okvirima, jer su autori poput Pavlovića i, donekle, Makavejeva, Kozomare i Petrovića, snimali filmove čiji kvalitet počiva na razumevanju komunizmom zatrovanog podneblja. Izuzetak i, po meni, najbolji film šezdesetih kojim bi se mogli predstaviti Svetu, bio je „Nemirni“, Kokana Rakonjca. Međutim, i to ostvarenje pati od večite srpske boljke: Biti prvi u svom selu i to na način što ćeš kopirati drugo selo.
U prilog ovoj tvrdnji ide činjenica da naši filmski autori nikad nisu uticali na razvojni put značajnih svetskih autora.
