Ah, Regan. Dobrodošli u osamdesete, epohu u kojoj ćete ostati večito mladi, trčati sa vokmenom, psom i kovrdžavom plavušom po plaži. Da, na kraju plaže vas čeka vaš omiljeni prodavac viršli od psećeg mesa. Mmm, divota od života. Velika kuća, japi frizura, tja, ko bi više mogao i poželeti? Pa…
Vođeni onom narodnom - čijem muzičkom ukusu je Bora Đorđević otac, Lea Kiš mu je majka; možemo zaključiti da su se kovrdžave pufnice iz osamdesetih već tokom devedesetih razvile u masne američke krofnice. Nećemo biti daleko od istine ako napadnu medijsku propagandu tokom Reganove vladavine shvatimo kao pripremu za savremeniji Buš-Klinton-Buš-Obama košmar. Zver, koja je ranjena u Vijetnamu, povukla se u tminu propagande i tu lizala rane, spremajući se za odlučan udarac ostacima komunizma.
Kakve veze ovo ima sa filmovima osamdesetih? Generalno gledano, ovo je bilo vreme smrti političkog filma i povratak korišćenja umetnosti u svrhu kreiranja spoljne politike. Filmadžije su sve više bile u službi političkih interesa zemalja kojima pripadaju. Mnogi od filmova koji će biti nabrojani, nisu se u prvi mah dobro pokazali u bioskopima, ili su doživeli ignorisanje od strane mejnstrim kritike. Neki su bili i zabranjeni, pa su svoju distribuciju doživeli tek nekoliko godina kasnije. Nabrojane su i neke kvalitetne televizijske serije, koje su doživele prvobitni fijasko, ili su u novijem vremenu zaboravljene. Tu su i televizijski filmovi koji nadmašuju okvir produkcije iz koje potiču. Ima čak i autora koji su se odrekli svojih filmova, mada su isti beskrajno zabavni. Ima, i to niže rangiranih u godini proizvodnje, čak i diskutabilno kvalitetnih naslova, autora... Oni su u ovom pregledu i zaslužuju da ne budu potpuno ignorisani, jer su pogodili atmosferu žanra ili neobično izneli temu.
Što se tiče Srbije…ona je kao nikad ranije zračila jugoslovenstvom, to jest, napadno paradirala sopstvenu glupost uoči raspada zemlje. Pojavili su se prvi pravi kultni filmovi sa ovih prostora („Dečko koji obećava“, „Kako je propao rokenrol“ i, donekle, „Pejzaži u magli“). Forsiranjem Siniše Pavića i televizije kao vaspitača novih generacija, u drugoj polovini osamdesetih dobili smo kinematografiju, čiji autori ne mogu ni sami jasno da odrede šta oni zapravo snimaju - televizijske drame ili filmove. Dominirala je „praška škola“, ili kako je neki podmuklo nazivaju „talas“ (pokušavajući tako da osmisle unapred obesmišljene pokušaje transportovanja Praga u Beograd, odnosno, daju smisao potiranju sopstvenog izraza zarad kreiranja prosvećenog slovenstva i to usred godina kada su se svi mladi intelektualci ložili na kvalitetnije trendove zapadne kulture). Ovo su „godine koje su pojeli skakavci“. Nikad lepše definisano vreme bačeno u vetar, nego u nazivu poznatog Pekićevog romana. Ovo su godine koje su stvorile patetičan filmski izraz, inspirisan teškim licemerjem pulena novog praškog talasa usred Srbije (Kusturica, Paskaljević, Karanović, pre svih). Do korena problema ovih prostora možemo doći prateći samo tematski niz kojim su se ovi autori na nakaradan način bavili u svojim nedelima (komunističke čistke - kao, samoupravni socijalizam je nešto drugo; Romi - kao, zaista im pomažu, a ne koriste za samopromociju; psi i vozovi; revolucija ’68. godine - kao, baš je bilo kul i svi su bili nasmejani, autizam - to vam dođe ona bolest kada kukate nad sudbinom psa dok vam sunarodnicima drobe kosti; zabranjena ljubav, pardon, orgija između Amerikanke, Šiptarke, muslimana, Srba i Srpkinja - kao, učimo se političkoj korektnosti i ako može, nek nas licemeri uče). Nikad nije bio problem imati zdrav odnos prema stvarnosti. Ono što je zabrinjavajuće je činjenica da su nas nezdravi učili o zdravlju. Svako od nedela ovih autora bilo je plasirano u društveno poželjnom trenutku. Kulminaciju predstavlja takozvano nacionalno osvešćivanje, a zapravo, priprema za rat - Šotrini filmovi sa kraja osamdesetih, odnosno, Paskaljevićevo „Vreme čuda“.
Kvalitativno gledano, vredi izdvojiti Bajićev prvenac „Direktan prenos“, Markovićevo približavanje hororu, Šijanovo majstorstvo, Radivojevićeve uspone i padove, „Banović Strahinju“, donekle, i sve ono čega se dotakao profesor Nebojša Pajkić na nivou scenarija, produkcije i formiranja prvog i za sada još uvek jedinog ozbiljnog kruga filmskih kritičara.
Što se tiče svetskih kinematografija, neophodno je pomenuti neverovatno jak uticaj tematike i stila američkog filma na sveukupnu produkciju. Hong Kong postaje veoma interesantno tržište gde se sliva novac sa Zapada i podstiče razvoj iščitavanja obrazaca Holivuda, ali, na samo sebi svojstven način. Francuska kinematografija doživljava mini talas novih autora, koji će se kroz vreme mahom zagubiti u pokušaju da ostanu originalni. Najdominantniji autori perioda su oni koji su kroz veći broj svojih filmova održali konstantu kvaliteta (Karpenter, Volter Hil, Tavernije, De Palma, Kronenberg, Pol Šreder, Maktirnan, Kameron, Džonatan Demi, Zemekis, Ferhuven, Ruben, Grinavej, Almodovar, Džon Bedem, Leri Koen, Džek Šolder, Milijus - iako je retko snimao, pa čak i rani Rob Rajner, kao i Spilberg, zahvaljujući trilogiji „Indijana Džons“). Kako će se pomenuti autori snaći kroz devedesete, odnosno, kako će se establišment poneti prema njima, ostaje da vidimo…
